Theory for toroidal momentum pinch and flow reversal in tokamaks

Abstract

A theory for toroidal momentum confinement in tokamaks was developed. It was found that, besides the known diffusion flux, there is a pinchlike flux. It was shown that the direction of the toroidal flow can reverse when plasmas make transitions from L mode to H mode.
