Thermodynamic assessment of the zirconia-urania system

An optimal thermodynamic data set for the zirconia-urania system is evaluated by the CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams) method. A regular solution model is applied to all phases of the cubic, tetragonal, and monoclinic solid solutions and the liquid. Comparisons between calculated and measured phase diagrams show that most of the experimental information is satisfactorily accounted for by thermodynamic calculations.
