Abstract

This paper presents thermohydrodynamic solutions for a finite-width, partial-arc journal bearing with non-Newtonian lubricants, obeying the power-law model. In this treatment the journal is treated as the 'moving-source' or isothermal boundary condition and the bearing conducts heat only in the radial direction. The solutions give the temperatures of the journal, bush and lubricant films. Good agreement with published experimental results was achieved.
