Abstract
The paper presents a computational method for nonlinear system identification. Many practical issues associated with this type of modeling are discussed. The identification is made in terms of a nonlinear discrete model which is referred to as the threshold nonlinear autoregressive moving average (TNLARMA) model. Three modeling examples and many interesting nonlinear phenomena are used to illustrate the robustness of the TNLARMA model. The results show that the threshold modeling approach is practical and applicable to many engineering fields.
