Abstract
This paper presents a numerical study on the transient behavior of a hydromagnetic free convection with heat and mass transfer for a viscous dissipative fluid flowing through an impulsively started infinite vertical plane. Two cases are considered: the plane with constant surface temperature and that with constant heat flux. The spline collocation method is adopted for solving the coupled nonlinear partial differential equations. The heat and mass transfer in the free convection depends on the dimensionless parameters M, Gr, Gm and Ec. Low concentration helium in air, approximately at 25°C and 1 atmosphere, (Pr-0.71 and Sc-0.3) is considered.
