Vibration analysis of cylindrically curved thin-walled box beams

Abstract

An analytical method is presented to examine the vibration for both the in-plane motion and out-of-plane motion of a cylindrically curved thin-walled box beam. Further, the finite element technique for both types of motion of the structure is also presented. The orthogonality of any two distinct sets of mode shape functions for both types of motions of the structure is derived. The convergence of modal frequencies obtained from the finite element computation for the structure is investigated.
