Abstract
The vibration and stability problems of an orthotropic rectangular plate subjected to a combination of a non-conservative follower force and conservative normal force are studied. Following Brunelle and Oyibo, we investigate the dynamic behavior of an orthotropic plate in the affine space. The finite element method is used to obtain the flutter frequencies and flutter loads of orthotropic plates. The effect of elastic foundation is also considered. The material constant D* is found to have significant effect on the flutter load.
