Abstract
A distributed power metering manifold (PMM) approach to power monitoring on the multiple branch circuits supplied from a common distribution panel is enhanced with a virtual instrument (VI) user interface. This VI based PMM allows the user to select the main or any of the branch circuits monitored. The VI interface periodically updates and displays all of the power parameters, phase voltage and current waveforms and a dynamic phasor diagram of the fundamental voltages and currents characterizing the particular branch circuit load under observation. Moreover, a continuous scan mode will cycle through each monitored branch circuit in succession and trigger the VI panel for an alarm function if any trip to preset conditions occur.
