Abstract

A general numerical algorithm is developed to calculate the combined wave refraction and diffraction using the parabolic approximation method. The accuracy of the algorithm is confirmed by comparing numerical results with the available laboratory data for the case where caustics occur behind a submerged shoal. Numerical results are also obtained for the wave field in the neighbourhood of a shore connected breakwater, which is located on an irregular topography. (A)
