Abstract
The forward and the backward scattered wave fields from an energy dissipation region are investigated. Analytical solutions are obtained for two-dimensional problems. Results can be used in estimating the reflection coefficient for a crib-type breakwater. For three-dimensional problems, numerical solutions are obtained using the parabolic approximations. It is shown that the numerical results agree very well with analytical solution for a special case of circular dissipation region.
