Abstract
Various materials, subjected to different surface treatments, were paired and tested under rolling-sliding conditions in order to investigate criteria for the selection of wear-resistant materials. Each surface treatment is ranked not only for its individual wear resistance, but also in combination for the case of rolling-sliding pairs. Some useful sliding pairs are suggested for field application in tribological machine elements.
