Abstract

The Co-doped ZnO nanoparticles were prepared by thermal hydrolysis. A ferromagnetic moment of about 0.02 μB/Co2+ was observed at room temperature. The electronic structure of the Co-doped ZnO nanoparticles was investigated in the vicinity of the oxygen-K edge, which reveals that the magnetic origin might be due to the interactions of magnetic moment mediated by the impurity band to give a ferromagnetic state.
