Abstract

We present a class of covariant-noncovariant linear gauges which are characterized by a real parameter and also by an arbitrary temporal, but constant vector. The parameter can be adjusted to include the Lorentz (or Landau) gauge and the Coulomb gauge as special cases. We show that the noncovariant singularities in the Coulomb gauge can be regularized with the parameter. We calculate the Yang-Mills self-energy in this class of gauges to one-loop order, and obtain the self-energy in the Landau gauge and in the Coulomb gauge. The renormalization in this class of gauges is also discussed.
