Abstract
Zheng (鄭), who came after the feudatories, occupied an important position in the Spring and Autumn Period. Zheng once a overlord in the early Spring and Autumn Period; but declined while other feudatories rose up later on. With the excellent geographical position,Zheng technically deal with Qi(齊), Chu(楚),Jin(晉), and Qin(秦) in superior diplomatic methods in order to keep their country intactly. Finally it revised and played an important role on the international stage of Spring and Autumn Period.This article is mainly exploring the application of Zheng’s diplomatic strategy and the intentions of diplomats by analyzing Zheng ’s geographical location and his diplomatic behavior with the vassals; which helps us to understand how Zheng was active in the Spring and Autumn Period as a small country. Undoubtedly, this historic event provides us some lessons and deserved us to learn from even nowadays.
