Abstract
In order to broaden the possibility of poetics, this thesis tries to read the poetry of Ling Yu, Xia Yu and Liu Liang-yen under the concept of “movement-poem” derived from two French philosophers, Gaston Bachelard and Gilles Deleuze.My thesis is organized into six chapters. In the first chapter, I introduce the motivation and methodology of my study. The second chapter reckons the concept of “movement-poem” which is based on Bachelard’s poetics of Rêverie (Dream) and Deleuze’s theory named Nomadology. Then, I utilize the concept to analyze the works of Ling Yu, Xia Yu and Liu Liang-yen in the following three chapters. Moreover, I discuss their different writing styles in three aspects: space, time and body.
After the textual interpretation, the last chapter is the conclusion of my thesis that not only reviews the result of the study but mentions other related issues. The notion of “movement-poem” brings the different ontology and epistemology of poetics, provides us another aesthetic to read and experience. By reading poetry, we could realize what Deleuze reminds us: Style in a great poet is always a style of life, a new possibility of living, and a way of existing……
