AbstractYuan,Zhe-Sheng(1966-2004),one of the novelist rise in the mid of 90s in Taiwan with his first novel ‘Send-off’（送行）.His writing style was affected by Hemingway’s Iceberg theory (also known as the "theory of omission"), which show the meaning of a piece is not immediately evident, because the crux of the story lies below the surface. With his childhood experience, Yuan,Zhe-Sheng using character's humorous scene and life style, dig through Time and have conversation with It, and tried to pass through the memories, return to the real moment that percept by soul. With this, he merges up a life scene full of happiness and sorrow. Aims of this thesis are to carding perception of emotions, Time, Space and Death of Yuan,Zhe-Sheng novels.
There are six chapters in this thesis: Chapter One, by using Jacques Lacan’s "Mirror Stage" theory to export awareness problem: mystery and distance perspective; and review of research on Yuan,Zhe-Sheng’s literature and explain research methods of this thesis. Chapter Two is focuses on the character’s loneliness and with Jacques Lacan’s "Mirror Stage" to expose the distance between subject and object. And three chapter so on are to analyze Yuan,Zhe-Sheng’s novels with various theories for understanding the concept of Time, Space and Death, that which are connected to Yuan,Zhe-Sheng’s writing concepts and his writing background. The sixth chapter is the conclusions, which concluding the research in this thesis. In this chapter also show the problem derivative in the research and way to solve it.
