Abstract
Anping Memories Song(安平追想曲)is a Taiwanese composed song created on 1951 by composer Shi Hus and the lyrics was written by Daru Chen. This song has existed for over sixty years and is still popular among people, eventually became one of the iconic classic Taiwanese songs. At the year 2011, Anping Memories Song was performed in Taiwanese Opera in Tainan for the first time. People were blown away by how the director successfully fused both western and eastern music elements while merging traditional and modern characteristics together in this new interpretation of Anping Memories Song.This thesis is constructed with five chapters: the background of the Anping Memories Song, Character analysis of Anping Memories Song in Taiwanese Opera, Using Japanese novel Nagasaki Yawagusa (長崎夜話草) and French novel Madame Chrysanthème (菊子夫人) as two of the motives to compose overture of the opera and further peruse their influences to the development of the story and the melody, breakdown of the special vocal usage in Taiwanese Opera Anping Memories Song , and the introduction from “New Kua-á” to the Taiwanese Opera.
