Abstract
The contemporary calligraphy could perform and express in a variety ways, making its aesthetic viewpoints completely different from classical calligraphy. The contemporary calligraphy broke the restriction to the traditional calligraphy handwriting techniques and led to the calligraphy transformation. In this digital and high-tech period, artists has multiple and creative ideas, leading to the development of expressive calligraphy and cross–disciplinary calligraphy. And this kind of transformation further influenced and set up a barrier to calligraphy education and inheritance.This thesis focuses on transformation of the contemporary calligraphy art in Taiwan. It delivers the idea that calligraphy inheritance should follow the essence of traditional calligraphy. And in this essay, we would interpret the contemporary value of calligraphy with multiple perspectives.Firstly, the discourse is based on document analysis.Secondly, we categorized the development of expressive calligraphy by style analysis and the cross-disciplinary of calligraphy by inductive analysis. Thirdly we conduct the interview to review the educational reform of calligraphy.The research not only concludes the importance of the transformation about contemporary art, but also proposes the reflection on culture inheritance. And we hope this thesis could arouse concern of importance to calligraphy inheritance.
