Abstract
The renowned abstract artist Zao Wou-Ki blended the formal language of modern Western painting and the color skills of oil painting in the spirit of traditional Chinese art and artistic conception. Among them, the unique oriental sentiments are expressed by the frustrated brushstrokes and lines, known as "Western modern lyrical abstraction" Representative.Zao Wou-Ki's creation can be divided into seven stages. Among them, the Chinese symbols displayed in the Oracle Bone Inscription are the most visible changes. This paper is based on this as a starting point to explore the elements of Chinese symbols he displayed in the Oracle Bone Inscription. In the process of his creative style transformation, the Oracle period was a breakthrough point in Zao Wou-Ki's search for his own identity. It also served as a tear point for connecting and opening the abstract lyrical painting that was recognized and respected in the later period. Finally, he returned to Hangzhou The art school lecture process to sort out his influence on the younger generation.
