Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of an interdisciplinary PBL curriculum developed with community-based local resources on elementary school students' creativity, motivation, and learning achievement. The researcher and school teachers prepared, observed, and discussed lessons during the one-year experimental teaching period. The researcher also worked with professors, experts, school administrators, and teaching staff to plan, design, and implement the curriculum. The students were divided into experimental and control groups using a quasi-experimental method. The experimental group implemented an interdisciplinary PBL curriculum, while the control group adopted a narrative approach to teaching separate subjects. To investigate the effectiveness of the courses, quasi-experimental research was conducted using the New Creative Thinking Inventory, motivation scale, subject scores, interview and observation records. The researcher also explored the ideas and suggestions of the teacher on implementing the curriculum. The research development was proposed through the researcher's compilation and analysis. Many recommendations were made for implementing the curriculum and future research to reference other education-related activities and researchers. The results of the study revealed that:
(a) The effect of implementing an interdisciplinary PBL curriculum on the creativity of elementary school students.
The experimental group improved in fluency, flexibility, and originality in language creativity, while the control group improved in fluency and flexibility; in graphic creativity, both the experimental and control groups improved in fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration.
(b) The effect of implementing an interdisciplinary PBL curriculum on the learning motivation of elementary school students.
The experimental group showed an increase in the anxiety item of the motivation scale, while the control group showed an increase in all things.
(c) The effect of implementing an interdisciplinary PBL curriculum on the academic achievement of elementary school students.
The experimental group's learning achievement in Nature and Information subjects improved and reached a significant difference.
