The Saline Lands refers to six districts in Tainan known as Jiangjun Cigu Beimen Syuejia Jiali and Sigang The soil in these 6 districts has high salt content which puts farming at a disadvantage Therefore people who live in these areas work in fishing and salt industries To live in such a difficult environment people in these areas gradually developed a steady and industrious spirit Their attitude is reflected in the folk literature of Saline Land Huang Chong-Xiong wrote a few quality folk pieces his work is always about the significance of the salt lands the community and the people that he grew up with The thesis is focused on investigating his theme of insignificant people surviving tragedies the problems of Taiwanese society that Huang is concerned about
