A Study on International Student Recruitment by Applying TRIZ Theory-A Case of Private University in Taiwan

Abstract

Under the background of globalization and internationalization international students are the human resources of Taiwan's interaction with the international community and the establishment of international friendship Public and private colleges and universities are numerous in Taiwan Taiwan Ministry of Education has promoted the internationalization of higher education for many years Colleges and universities have regarded the internationalization of higher education as one of the indicators of university competitiveness Recruiting international students has become an important policy for colleges and universities to promote the internationalization of higher education It is also an important resource of students in colleges and universities Schools making the recruiting strategies for international students is based on the policy of the government and the Ministry of Education In recent years the decreasing of nativity in Taiwan has affected the enrolled student rate in colleges and universities especially at private schools Private schools’ enrollment is relatively inferior students recruiting strategies and campus internationalization is more important This research uses TRIZ theory to explore the dilemma of private universities to recruit international students apply commercial tools identify problems and explore appropriate innovation solutions The different types of business tools in this study including Root Conflict Analysis Business Function Diagram and TRIZ Theory This study is based on the Root Conflict Analysis (RCA+) to find out the causes and conflicts of recruiting international students and use Business Function Diagram (BFD) recommendations to reach the demand for students and solve the conflicts by the contradiction matrix of TRIZ theory The conclusions of this study can be the reference for private universities to make the strategies and enhance university competitiveness
