This study analyzed different hypertension-relation diseases (spontaneous hypertension (ICD-9-401) hypertensive heart disease (ICD-9-402) hypertensive kidneys) from the data submitted by the Chinese medicine hospital in National Health Insurance research database of Taiwan in 2013 The amount and frequency of patients visited the age distribution prescription frequency and type of prescription (single or compound) were also included in order to understand how traditional Chinese medicine treats the hypertension The total 54517 people and related 205959 cased were analyzed The result showed that the spontaneous hypertension (ICD-9-401) and hypertensive heart disease and kidney disease (ICD-9-404) were the highest cause The distribution of age groups for male or female were between 50 to 69 the ratio of male and female was about 1:1 According to ICD10 the top ten single drugs which was been used to the treat of hypertension were Salvia miltiorrhiza Uncaria rhynchophylla Rheum Palmatum Pueraria lobata Eucommia ulmoides Prunella vulgaris Achyranthes bidentata Scutellaria baicalnsis Processed Aconite and Ligusticum chuanxiong The top ten compound drugs which was been used to the treat of hypertension were Gastrodia & Nucaria Combination Persica and Carthamus Combination Gambir Formula Bupleurum & Peony Formula Licorice Combination Cyathula & Plantago Formula Phellodendron & Rehmannia Formula Bupleurum & Dragon Bone Combination Rehmannia Six Formula and Chrysanthemum & Rehmannia Formula This study showed the pattern of TCM which used to treat different type of hypertension and it can be used as reference for clinical usage The scientific research still needed for evaluation of the effect of these TCM drugs to hypertension
