Abstract

Taiwan Ceramics Studios gradually emerged since the 1960s The purpose of this study was to explore the business model of Taiwan ceramics studios The researcher tried to find out the type of business model and provided some advice to keep sustainable operation The researcher selected three Taiwan ceramics studios which established more than ten years and face to face interview with their founders Our interview guide based on “Business Model Canvas” which conducted by Osterwalder & Pigneur in 2010 The researcher also followed this model to analyze these cases The results can be summarized and divided into two business types by considering “Is there any employees employed” and the characteristics of Taiwan ceramics studios business model are summarized below: A Value proposition is different by the creation concept of the founders B For customer segments targeting group with strong consuming capability and gradually breaking into mass market C Ceramics studios rely on distrubutors and word-of-mouth marketing to promote themselves D Retaining customers can bring more benefits than getting new customers E Main source of revenue is product sales and pricing strategies vary from person to person F The highest proportion of cost structure is personnel expenses or product production costs G Establishing partnerships with raw material suppliers and distributors is important H Founders would improve R&D technology by learning continuously I Key resource is human resource especially the role of the founder
