Abstract

According to the Project besides the underground systematization and restructuring of Tainan Station two new stations respectively named as “Linsen Station” and “South Tainan Station” would be additionally established for transportation and commuting to or from the urban areas Meanwhile “The 2005 Review for Urban Planning Project for East District of Tainan City (Major Project)” introduced the concept “South Tainan CBD (Fuduxin)” composed of the rare few large-area lands in the East District to alleviate the development pressure of the original CBD of the City This Study observes the current environmental conditions of the urban area to raise possible issues that the South Tainan Station area may face after the underground systemization of the railways of Tainan such as transforming the idle space into an urban entrance node or the connection of the space on both sides after railway underground The method of case analysis is then adopted to understand the planning scale and approaches for train station facilities the key elements of station area planning and at last propose the overall development concept for the station and its vicinities
