Lying in AMOY Fujian China the area Sha-Po-Wei was once a prosperous fishing port However along with the changes of times it’s difficult for the fishing industry to continue the business as the fishing resources ran out Therefore the fishing port Sha-Po-Wei has also been gradually left untended and has sunk into a decline and oblivion As the last harbor in the city Sha-Po-Wei was forced to close due to the development needs of the city in recent years So the event of “Fishing Quitting” has been put under the spotlight again in the press How should the marine culture of Sha-Po-Wei cultivated during the last century pass on and be extended in the new era? While facing these challenges and opportunities how can we transform and reconstruct it to make this old port revive its former grandeur in the new era? These questions will be discussed in this research of Planning and Design In this research of Planning and Design we mean to analyze the current situation of Sha-Po-Wei regarding its basic environment development situation and spatial planning summarize the advantages and disadvantages and opportunities and challenges of this old port in all aspects to think of a new strategy for Sha-Po-Wei ’s reconstruction Apart from the analysis on the port’s own issues the foreign successful cases of port redevelopment will be taken as reference sources By learning from other successful experiences and fully considering the real circumstances of this port we mean to formulate a feasible and suitable plan that can meet the requirements of the future development for the Planning and Design of this area It’s hoped that we can make full use of the regional advantages grasp the opportunity make a turning point of the dire situation redefine the regional image of Sha-Po-Wei in this special environment and develop its new worth
