An Urban Design Study on the Renewal of the Wedge Area between Railway Forks by Ai-River in Kaohsiung

Abstract

With the development of the city the three railway corridors and the straightened channel of Love River formed the cuneus-shaped interstitial area in between However the Kaohsiung Railway Underground Project was completed on October 14 of 2018 which offered new development opportunities to the interstitial area since it would no longer be divided by railway corridors Hence this study intends to adopt the three-dimensional urban design approach to attempt to bridge the existing urban environment and the interstitial area We have four objectives for the integration planning of the interstitial area and the lands within the newly integrated and planned interstitial area would be designated as residential lands except the one at the center which would serve for installation of public facilities as the exaction of development
