Caring the Aged for Good: Spatial Design of Healthy Housing for the Elderly

Abstract

Taiwan has become an aging society in 1993 and become the senior society because of reaching the threshold of 14% proportion of the population for aging people who over 65 years old in 2018 Experts estimated that the market scales are about NT$ 300 billion for aging society In response to the demand of the aging society and market scale many companies have invested in the construction of health villages In March 2020 Tainan launched the first batch of self-built social housing designs This study aims to provide a plan of health villages based on caring for people who are in need of housing by considering launch modern smart equipment that meets the needs of the aging society takes into account the development of the times The plan of health villages will make aging people feel familiar and happy with the construction of a peaceful hydrophilic and green house in rural Taiwan In terms of the market potential of health housing for aging people this study starting from the health culture village the concept of a complex health residence operation plan was adopted The Ministry of the Interior announced that the average life expectancy in 2019 will be 80 7 years old and 50 years old will have 30 years of remaining life From the perspective of "accounting" such as every month paying a high rent is not as good as a loan to buy a house and eventually people can leave their own assets If people are renting a house or a health village they have to pay rent every month and they will not leave any assets in the end In contrast paying a mortgage for buying a house will eventually turn the money into a house and leave it in your hands as an asset This study develops a questionnaire and adopts online self-filled survey to explore the perceptual needs of health and wellness housing for aging people in Taiwan by the method of Kansei engineering and translates the aging people’s perceptual needs of health housing into the elements of architectural planning by using the method of quality function development This research also discusses some domestic architectural cases that have won international architectural awards and introduced by international architectural journals as an icon for architecture
