Class Numbers and Its Applications

Abstract

In this thesis I will introduce what are ideal class groups and class numbers of a number field which are used by Kummer to solve part of Fermat’s Last Theorem Also I will introduce some of their properties and a method called Minkowski’s bound to calculate the class numbers Then I will give three applications of class numbers
