This study investigates how the characteristics of a startup firm and its founder(s) influence the likelihood that the company receives acquisition invitations By testing four hypotheses on a sample of 84 firms in Taiwan this study found that firstly entrepreneurs with entrepreneurship education and management experience are more likely to receive acquisition invitations Secondly solo-founder startups are more likely to attract attention and receive acquisition invitations Thirdly startup founders with prior experience starting up companies and founders with prior top-or middle-level managerial experience conflict with each other And finally startup experiences are not the main reason for startups to receive acquisition invitations
