Abstract

Historical districts of Tainan is hard to integrate and buildings renew slowly due to policies residents' property rights issues reality market mechanisms etc Such a street structure lacking public life quality consisting of shop type buildings that is based on the premise of pursuing the most of floor area is an interesting subject This research is originated from the observation in recent years While the internal business activities of the fabric are active The research tries to cut into from the perspective of publicity construct an atypical public space within the quarter while maintaining the existing street texture and building type The discussion involves architectural typology urban morphology and social sciences The scope of operation is the Grand Matsu Temple quarter By defining the interaction between publicity public domain and space and from the perspective of urban morphology we try to adjust the existing building types and looks for the possibility of flipping the relationship of the quarter Hope to start the wedge of the development of the Tainan historical district from the car dealership to the pedestrian-oriented urban space Through the reconstruction design of sporadic buildings on private lands they cogenerates a secondary public system in tandem with the intermediary spaces Let this system superimposes on the existing lane system it will be a dialogue between the historical districts and these scattered public spaces Finally to review the analytical norms of public space and activities from a social science perspective
