Factors Predicting Rural Residents' Support of Tourism: The Case of Qingshui She Ethnic Township Yongan Fujian

Abstract

This study selected the areas with the largest concentration of ethnic minorities in the central Fujian province of the Chinese mainland,Qingshui she Township,as a case study Based on community empowerment theory this study collects first-hand data through questionnaires and interviews From the aspects of community relations residents' participation economic impact Local identity and stakeholders this paper studies the perception and attitude of community residents of different villages in Qingshui She Nationality townships towards tourism development And adopts structural equation model Through factor analysis the factors affecting residents' perception of tourism and tourism support are analyzed The results show that in Qingshui she Township (1) residents' tourism support degree is affected by the aspects of community relations residents' participation economic impact Local identity ;(2) the aspects of community relations residents' participation economic impact Local identity can enhance the positive perception brought by tourism and reduce the negative perception; (3) community relations have the largest direct influence on tourism support while residents' participation and economic impact are the most important factors that have a minor influence on tourism support (4) different occupations affect the degree of tourism support Students and industrial staff are more supportive of local tourism development while agricultural workers and civil servants/institutions (including teachers) are less supportive of local tourism development
