Abstract

The dry storage cask cooling by air circulation In this study we discuss different the wind speeds and the wind direction affects heat dissipation performance of a dry storage cask when the dry storage cask for spent nuclear fuel which used NAC- MAGNASTOR cask of system and placed outdoors We test the cask in a wind tunnel to get the wind speed and temperature in the flow channel of the cask Then compare the experimental data with the result from a commercial software PHOENICS CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) for heat flow analysis The temperature of channel drops accordingly when the wind speed was much faster indicating improved heat dissipation performance The wind direction affects the efficiency of the airflow entering the channel At the same wind speed the angle between the wind direction and the air port is larger and the heat dissipation effect of the storage facility is poor Both the wind speed and the wind direction are the coefficients of the heat dissipation performance of the storage facility and the former is more stronger influence
