Structures normally vibrate with nonlinear behaviors when they are subjected to large loads due to nature hazards especially when damage occurs The Bouc-Wen model is one of the widely used models to describe smoothly nonlinear hysteretic behaviors This research focuses on the parametric identification for buildings based on the Bouc-Wen model The identification technique is carried out through fitting seismic data in a least-square sense For a simulated MDOF system the proposed identification method is accurate in estimating the Bouc-Wen parameters at the case of complete measurement but relatively worse at the case of partial measurement Nevertheless these results are still acceptable Finally for the case of an actual system with base isolators and partial seismic records the isolators might have not damaged yet by observing the variation of identified results
