Abstract

The main reason for the global warming is excessive greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and it is a problem that can’t be ignored in the 21st century With the rising environmental awareness corporate has started to face pressure of the development of a low-carbon economy and strict environmental regulations Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a well-developed method that can communicate with environment and there are more and more corporates use it as a tool to analyze carbon emissions To date everyday life closely relates to information and communication technology (ICT) However there are many problems in the implementation of results of LCA with ICT Digital revolution has created the display industry and it is a big category of ICT This research puts emphasis on the upstream and midstream company in the display industry to propose a product carbon footprint standard calculation procedure for increasing the comparability and consistency Besides the research has collected some data related to the display industry to propose standard emission factor databases for reference when using the standard calculation procedure and some standard scenarios in the use stage for products in the downstream are collected to fix the problems of comparability In the meantime the research cooperates with the industry Taiwan TFT LCD Association (TTLA) to propose this standard calculation procedure to increase the legitimacy At last there are case studies for using the standard calculation procedure namely a 32inch module and a 32inch TV set and the result of the assessment do increase the comparability and consistency after that
