Abstract

Abstract Quality management is important in the construction process In large construction projects both quality requirements and time pressure must be met When the owner's manpower is limited a simple quality management method is needed to quickly find the key quality points of the work This study explores the quality pass ratio and inspection implied data collection methods for construction projects First the data of quality inspection forms were translated into the First Time Pass Ratio (FTPR) information after data preprocessing Then conditions were analyzed to find out the factors that affect the pass rate and the key inspection points of work and make the construction supervisor do effective quality inspection with limited manpower In addition 23 construction and 2 manufacturing specifications were analyzed to identify 3 inspection ways of using labor equipment and labor with equipment The frequency of inspection ways was compared for the two industries and the direction of data collection for the implementation of quality inspection was proposed The study’s results are as follow: (1) The FTPR can be applied to different work The factors that affect the pass rate can be found out by analyzing different conditions and combining the experience of supervision to find the inspection key points (2) The number of inspections is unrelated to the FTPR To reduce the number of inspections appropriately the FTPR can be used to find the key points of inspection and adjust the inspection frequency of work (3) The inspection of construction materials relies more on equipment and the inspection of construction relies more on labor Manufacturing inspections mostly rely on automatic inspection of equipment Because the construction industry is unit production and the manufacturing is large-batch or continuous-process production the different production methods cause different inspection ways (4) The best quality management of construction project is to inspect the key points and collect key data The quantitative FTPR can be used to find the key points according to the nature of work and management manpower flexibly respond to the amount of data collected to present quality performance
