Nowadays due to the changing of demography and cultural consuming behavior museum operation has become visitor-centered being eager to develop new audiences Family visitor studies in museums is generally taken emphasis by scholars while most of the studies were brought out in science museums Also the subjects of the researches were usually one generation in the family group To achieve the purpose of proposing the exhibit design factors which can increase learning experience for the family visitors in museums This research is going to investigating the learning experiences and behaviors of family group visitors in history museum taking emphasis on the interactions between adults and children and the interaction between people and exhibit to call attention to the family visitor study that is based on Lev Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory Qualitative approach is used in this research Leading with the document analysis and direct observations with and with toolkit (learning worksheet and guideline) in National Museum of Taiwan History in-depth interview and questionnaire are conducted to collect the primary data It is appropriate to use thematic analysis to generate and analyze the raw data The results indicate that with the appropriate interaction between the adults and children and also the exhibit design provide opportunity invoke learning motivation even if the exhibition topic is serious children can still learn something in it Moreover with the assistance from museums (for example guiding or worksheet) family can much easier to learn in museums
