Study on the development strategies of Fongnain Airport

Abstract

Currently Fongnian Airport (RCFN) faces the problems of low utilization low income and high cancellation rates for two offshore island routes The positive part is Apex Flight Academy is based at RCFN Although RCFN is a low utilization airport and its income is far less than the required expense the policy states that it’s essential to keep RCFN in operation since it plays certain essential role for domestic air transportation network Therefore income increasing and cost down are challenges for RCFN This research suggests to downgrade the airport rescue and firefighting classification to cut one fire engine and six firemen since the critical aircraft type of RCFN has been changed to smaller ATR72 and the total number of operations during peak months are less than 700 The high cancellation rates of Lanyu and Ludao routes are very tough to be improved due to crosswind problem and limited physical environment It is suggested to relax regulations to allow Apex to engage in aerial tourism or sky tour and create more value-added for RCFN
