According to the report of the International Energy Agency in 2008 the implementation of the mandatory building energy certificate policy has achieved remarkable results in the strategy of building energy conservation and improving energy efficiency However the building type and usage in Taiwan is more complex and diverse than in Europe or USA The Architecture and Building Research Institute Ministry of the Interior developed the Building Energy evaluation manual in 2020 and established Taiwan Building Energy-Efficiency Rating System which is the first energy efficiency evaluation method in Taiwan This research is based on Taiwan Building Energy-Efficiency Rating System and the purpose of this study is to develop the building energy efficiency calculation software by using Excel as the tool There were four software established totally The main target users in the future are authorized experts and citizens Good user interface design can improve the users' operation efficiency and flexibility Therefore the interface design referred to the 10 Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design composed by Jakob Nielsen in 1994 for better user experience The software was tested few times by testers who have related background such as architecture electrical mechanical and so on After testing testers’ feedback and suggestion were collected via questionnaire and the software design was modified and optimized gradually The result of building energy calculation software which can be used as formal evaluation tools in the future has good user experience and accuracy The tool can also be released to public which can increase the awareness of energy consumption and efficiency and raise the willingness to optimize existing buildings Furthermore it can assist to execute the Taiwan Building Energy-Efficiency Rating policy in the future
