In the face of rapid changes in the external environment and unpredictability in order to maintain a competitive advantage companies need to adopt open innovation to improve their competitive advantage In the view of dynamic capabilities under the uncertainty of the external environment the long-term competitive advantage of enterprises comes from internal asset allocation and resource enhancement capabilities and this ability comes from senior executives This study believes that senior executives have a significant influence on the choice and decision-making of open innovation We select a domestic technology company that produces cooling fans as the case study object We choose in-depth interviews with the company's senior executives explore how the company's executives recognize and make innovative decisions when faced with changes in the external environment This study found that uncertainty is also a major factor of open innovation making up for the shortcomings of open innovation in the past The research also found that when the types of uncertainties increase in the process of open innovation the cognitive capabilities of managers are limited and multiple managers with different management cognitive capability should participate
