The Effect of Corporation Diversification on Innovation

Abstract

Diversification is one of important strategy of growth for modern firms According resource-based theory multiple resource can help people figure out some innovative ideas Sometime this ideas is the key of corporation growth There are lots of ways to measure innovation In this literature we use the output of innovation patent and citation as the innovation variable The purpose of this study discuss whether corporation diversification can raise up the output of innovation Overall the study shows that diversification can help firm raising the volume of patent For patent quality there are different result under different condition For example under uncompetitive market firm with diversification can increase the volume and quality of patent However under competitive market focus strategy is better option for firm to increase the patent quality
