Abstract

Valuation of a business or company is measured by tangible assets However the current economy has entered the era of knowledge economy from the early industrial economy and knowledge and creativity are the main elements to create wealth In order to protect the rights of the goods or inventions that enterprises have worked hard to develop they must apply for patents with the government to obtain the exclusive right to exclude others from exploiting the inventions without their consent Therefore in the era of knowledge economy coming the enterprise has shifted from the traditional fixed assets management pattern as patent and self brand oriented intellectual property rights not only affects the competitiveness of the enterprises in the international market it also is a kind of goods or assets so in the coming of the new economic era intellectual property rights will be the main assets of the enterprise thus the value of intellectual property assessment will become particularly important Most of the previous literatures discussed the interaction between the number of patent rights and enterprise performance However the performance of an enterprise is not only determined by patent rights Therefore this study will provide a comprehensive discussion of patents including patent application management strategy and the impact of patent management ability on business performance In addition this study will further explore whether internal R&D ability dynamic ability marketing ability and learning ability affect patent management ability
