Abstract

We report on a theoretical study of stimulated Raman adiabatic passage of tripod system We derive the results proposed by Unanyan et al In the adiabatic condition the populations are transferred through dark state only However if the adiabatic condition is not satisfied the non-dark states will appear and the process will be affected by the Rabi oscillation phenomenon and spontaneous decay effect We also control the time and shape of the pulses to see how they change the populations Furthermore we discuss the optical density effect in the tripod stimulated Raman adiabatic passage medium
