N2 - Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) established a scientific and systematic process and rules of contaminants screening for drinking water quality regulation, referring to the process set up by United States EPA. The process consists of four level of database establishment, including Universe Contaminant Candidate List (UCCL), Preliminary Contaminant Candidate List (PCCL), Contaminant Candidate List, (CCL), and Regulation Candidate List (RCL). Four parameters, potency (the concentration which would cause health damage), severity (how serious the health damage is), prevalence (detection frequency), and magnitude (detected concentration), were collected and scored for each contaminant in the PCCL. Then an experts meeting will be called to evaluate if there is any contaminates in PCCL should to move forward to CCL basing on the health risk scoring results. Once a contaminant is included into CCL, monitoring plan will be established and going to carry out for at least one year to evaluate whether the contaminant should be regulated or not.
