title = "A bidirectional hybrid DWDM system for CATV and OC-48 trunking",
abstract = "A bidirectional hybrid dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system was proposed for cable television systems (CATV) and OC-48 trunking. The proposed system consisted of two externally modulated optical transmitters, two OC-48 digital optical transmitters and two broadband erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA). The system used two wavelengths for AM-VSB video and two wavelengths for OC-48 baseband signal transport. The demonstration suggested that the use of large effective area fibers (LEAF) within the system link reduced total fiber dispersion.",
