摘要

Tourism has become a popular leisure activity. A well-designed tourist map will be a useful tool for a traveler in an unfamiliar area. However, the existing online tourist maps are constructed based on the digital map systems (add some scenic spots and related information), letting them to be non-intuitive for users. In this paper, a novel tourist map system is introduced. Our goal is to automatically generate correct, appropriate and intuitive tourist maps for tourists. The main idea is to gather images and their capturing positions from Google Earth platform to determine which area is the scenic spot. Moreover, a high-quality image representing a scenic spot is automatically selected from the gathered images. We integrate these represented images in a tourist map to represent the characteristics of scenic spots. This leads to intuitive bowering for users. The proposed tourist map generation consists of four main steps: 1) an area with a large number of uploaded images is selected as a scenic spot, and these images are gathered as an image set. 2) The images in an image set are classified according to the object shape and appearance. 3) Select a high-quality image from the biggest group to represent the scenic spot. 4) Simplify the shapes of main loads between the scenic spots and abstract a topographic map as the background of tourist map. By integrating the data generated in these four steps, we can obtain a tourist map focusing on a set of scenic spots.
