摘要
This paper proposes a printed PIFA antenna, which is fabricated on a 0.8 mm thick FR-4 substrate for WWAN 5-band application. A direct-fed monopole with a 50 ω microstrip feeding line, and a PIFA is printed on the other side of the substrate. The back side contains the system ground plane. A shorting point at the end of the PIFA is used to connect to the ground plane. The overall dimension of the proposed antenna is 45 × 115 × 0.8 mm3 that contains an antenna portion of 45 × 15 mm2 and a ground plane of 45 × 100 mm2. The fundamental mode of the PIFA is at 0.86 GHz and a higher mode is at 1.88 GHz. The proposed antenna having dual wide operating bandwidth with a planar structure is suitable for mobile handset applications. This article also provides the simulated results of radiation patterns, antenna gain, and radiation efficiency.
