A printed ultra-wideband (UWB) radio technology for transmitting and receiving short, information-encoded, electromagnetic impulses, is presented. A printed planar triangular monopole antenna (PTMA) was adopted for the design of a broadband antenna for UWB application. The HFSS 3-D EM simulator was employed for design simulation and the antenna input VSWR, the phase of the input impedance and the radiation patterns were measured. An FDTD code, developed with the Kirchhoff's surface integral representation (KSIR), was used to compute the time-domain far-field distribution.
