Adaptive robust control design for aircraft take-off in windshear

In this paper, we formulate the control design problem of an aircraft flying through windshear with a constant climb rate as an output tracking problem for an uncertain nonlinear system. An adaptive robust control scheme based on both the Lyapunov-based approach and an adaptation mechanism is also developed to resolve the tracking problem of this uncertain nonlinear system with input uncertainty which does not satisfy the conventional matching condition. Furthermore, a priori information on the bounds of the uncertainty is deemed unnecessary in the control design. The robustness and effectiveness of proposed control scheme are illustrated via numerical simulations of an aircraft (B-727) flying through four different models of windshear.
