摘要
The origin of carbon capture can be traced back to the recognition of the increasing levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere and the growing concerns about climate change caused by human activities. The concept of capturing, utilizing, and storing carbon dioxide emissions as a means to mitigate climate change has been developed over several decades. The process of carbon capture involves capturing CO2 from the flue gases produced during the combustion of fossil fuels or from industrial processes. Various technologies have been developed to capture CO2, including pre-combustion capture, post-combustion capture, and oxy-fuel combustion. These technologies aim to separate CO2 from other gases, purify it, and compress it into a form suitable for transportation and storage. This chapter then mainly introduces the background of carbon capture, introduction and cases of pre-combustion capture, post-combustion capture, and oxy-fuel combustion. In addition, some novel capture techniques are also explored in this chapter.
